A surface mounting back box used with the addressable break glass manual call point where flush installation into a European single switch box in the wall is not practical. This is the normal solution on finished concrete walls, on retrofit work in an occupied building where cutting into the wall is to be avoided, and in corridors where the cabling is run in surface-mounted conduit or trunking. Fitting the call point on a proper back box rather than improvising a mounting also keeps the face of the device square to the wall, which matters because the test key has to enter cleanly from underneath. A tear-off template is supplied inside the packing box so the cable entry holes can be located accurately before the box is fixed in place. During installation the fixing screws should not be over-tightened, and lubricants, cleaning solvents and petroleum-based products must be kept away from the plastic housing, as these attack the material and can leave it brittle over time. KIC supplies, installs and maintains it as part of the fire alarm systems we deliver across Egypt.
