An addressable zone monitor module that allows a zone of conventional two-wire non-addressable devices to communicate with a modern addressable system through a single address on the loop. Its real value shows in upgrade work. A site often has existing conventional zones that are technically sound, with cabling already installed in walls and ceilings, and replacing everything in one go is not realistic in either time or budget. The module brings those existing zones under the supervision of the new panel immediately, after which the devices themselves can be replaced in phases without leaving any part of the building unprotected in the meantime. Each module occupies one of the module addresses available on the loop. The module transmits a fault to the panel on open circuit, on short circuit, or when its external fault input is pulled low, an input commonly used to monitor an external power supply. Its indicator flashes while the module is in communication with the panel and latches steady on an alarm condition, subject to loop current limits. A plug-in loop driver card fitted inside a multi-protocol control panel to give it one additional detection loop. This is the component that actually determines which device family will communicate with the panel on that loop, so the card selection and the detector selection have to be made together at design stage. The card provides a single loop that can be wired either as a Class A closed loop or as a Class B open spur, and it supports optical and thermal detectors, monitor modules, control modules, isolator modules and conventional zone interface modules all on the same circuit. The 460 mA current rating allows a fuller device population than the lower-rated variant of the same card, which matters when a loop is carrying a large number of loop-powered sounders and beacons alongside the detectors. A practically useful feature is double address detection. If two devices are accidentally set to the same address during commissioning, the panel reports it instead of leaving a silent gap in the coverage. The loop voltage jumper must be set to the correct position for the installed driver type before power is applied.
