Soundcraft Notepad-8FX Analog Mixer with USB I/O and Lexicon Effects

The Notepad-8FX is a small-format analog console with eight inputs in total. It carries two combo XLR and quarter-inch microphone channels, one of which offers a selectable high-impedance mode for connecting an electric guitar or bass directly, four quarter-inch line inputs arranged as two stereo pairs, and a stereo RCA playback input that is summed with the USB return on the same channel. A built-in Lexicon effects engine provides studio-quality reverb, chorus and delay with tap tempo control, working alongside three-band equalisation and an auxiliary send on each channel. The integrated USB audio interface runs at 24-bit resolution and either 44.1 or 48 kHz, and the accompanying control panel software lets the user choose whether the microphone inputs, the line inputs or the master mix are sent to the computer. The master section uses a proper fader with LED metering, a stereo XLR main output and a headphone output with its own level control. A ducking function automatically lowers USB background music whenever someone speaks into a microphone, which makes the unit well suited to podcasting, streaming and small live performances.
