Honeywell Morley-IAS DXc RS232 Card 795-122

An RS232 card specific to the DXc panel range. Its function is to open a serial port to which an external device can be connected in order to read system events as they happen, rather than relying on someone standing in front of the panel. The two applications most often asked for are connecting the panel to a building management system that gathers HVAC, power and alarm status into a single operator interface, or connecting it to fire graphics software that displays the exact device in alarm directly on a floor plan. Both turn the panel from an isolated piece of equipment into part of the wider monitoring picture of the facility. On larger sites that run a central control room this card is the meeting point between the fire system and everything else in the building, so it is normally specified at design stage rather than added afterwards. Adding it later is possible because it is a plug-in card, but the cable route to the control room and the integration work on the receiving system are the parts that cost time.
