An addressable control output module with a single output, fitted on the detection loop to provide either one alarm circuit or a Form C relay so that external equipment can be operated on a command from the panel. The usual applications are releasing door holders and shutting down air handling units when a fire is confirmed, along with lift homing and plant interlocks. The module can be configured to supervise the wiring to the external load or the voltage of its own supply, raising a fault if that voltage falls below threshold. That supervision is what prevents a failed output from being discovered only at the moment of a fire, which is the single most common weakness in interfaces installed without monitoring. The unit carries built-in short-circuit isolators and a tri-colour status LED visible in two planes, and mounts either on DIN rail inside a distribution board or in a surface box. Visible address selector switches and plug-in connectors make commissioning and later replacement straightforward. An addressable manual call point operating from a glass element that is pushed in. It takes an independent address on the loop through a rotary decade switch at the rear of the housing, so it appears on the panel display with its exact location the moment it is operated. Its most useful practical feature is the specialist test key. Inserted from underneath, the key lowers the glass and releases the micro-switch, so the unit receives a full functional test without breaking the glass and without consuming a spare part on every periodic maintenance visit. On a site with dozens of call points that is a real difference in both cost and in whether the testing actually gets done properly. The unit carries an integral indicator that blinks red when the panel polls it and holds steady red in a fire condition, which confirms at a glance that the device is alive on the loop. It can be flush mounted into a European single switch box or surface mounted with a separate plastic box, is rated IP24D, and is available in several colours so its function is immediately distinguishable. An RS232 card specific to the DXc panel range. Its function is to open a serial port to which an external device can be connected in order to read system events as they happen, rather than relying on someone standing in front of the panel. The two applications most often asked for are connecting the panel to a building management system that gathers HVAC, power and alarm status into a single operator interface, or connecting it to fire graphics software that displays the exact device in alarm directly on a floor plan. Both turn the panel from an isolated piece of equipment into part of the wider monitoring picture of the facility. On larger sites that run a central control room this card is the meeting point between the fire system and everything else in the building, so it is normally specified at design stage rather than added afterwards. Adding it later is possible because it is a plug-in card, but the cable route to the control room and the integration work on the receiving system are the parts that cost time.
