The Notepad-5 is a small-format analog mixer with five inputs, built around one combo XLR and quarter-inch microphone channel that also accepts high-impedance sources such as an electric guitar plugged in directly, one stereo line channel on quarter-inch jacks, and a stereo RCA input for media players. Despite the compact footprint it uses a rugged metal enclosure that stands up to daily studio use and to being carried between rooms and venues. A two-in, two-out USB audio interface is built in, running at 24-bit resolution with a choice of 44.1 or 48 kHz sample rates, so the unit doubles as a recording interface and a desktop monitor controller. The USB return is summed with the RCA input on the final channel, and a ducking function automatically pulls down the level of background music whenever the microphone channel is active. The output section offers a main stereo output on XLR connectors and a quarter-inch monitor output that can be switched between a mono line feed and a headphone feed, with a master rotary control and four LED meters. It suits podcasting, home recording and small meeting rooms. KIC supplies, installs, aligns and maintains it as part of the audio systems we deliver across Egypt.
