Fingerprint time attendance terminals are the most widely used option in companies, factories, and offices, because they tie the attendance record to a fingerprint that cannot be lent to a colleague, which ends buddy punching. They rely on an optical sensor that reads a finger in under a second and copes with dry, wet, and rough fingers. Most models in this category hold three thousand fingerprint templates and three thousand cards, and store one hundred thousand to two hundred thousand transactions inside the terminal itself, so the record survives if the network drops. They come with a 2.8-inch colour screen and a built-in backup battery that keeps the unit working through a power cut. They support simple access control through a third-party electric lock and an exit button, and move data over TCP/IP, USB, or Wi-Fi on selected models.
