An addressable detector does more than raise an alarm. It carries a unique digital address on the loop, so the panel can identify the exact device behind an event by name and location. It also reports its own technical condition and signals when it needs cleaning, before accumulated dust turns into an unwanted alarm.
Three sensing principles are represented here. Photoelectric detectors use a chamber designed to reduce sensitivity drift from settling dust and insect ingress, and suit open areas, offices and corridors. Thermal detectors work from a low-mass thermistor that responds either when the temperature passes a fixed threshold or when it climbs at a rapid rate per minute, making them appropriate for kitchens, car parks and spaces with steam or airborne dust. Multi-criteria detectors combine optical and thermal sensing in a single plug-in unit, managed by embedded software that weighs both elements together for far better false alarm immunity and faster response to a wider range of incipient fires.
